Keep Clarence Schools Great is pleased to announce its enthusiastic support for the only two candidates running for the Clarence School Board this year: John Fisgus and James Boglioli. We urge you to turn out at the High School gymnasium on May 17th to elect these two outstanding candidates.
John C. Fisgus is a lifelong Buffalo resident. He graduated from Williamsville East High School and pursued a career in education. He taught secondary math at Depew Middle School for 6 years before spending 3 years as assistant principal at Lake Shore Middle School. For the past 8 years, John has been leading the Royalton Hartland Middle School as building principal.
There are many facets to the educational system, and thanks to numerous years in the field, John has a very strong understanding of the ins and outs from needs inside the classroom, to administrative demands. John leads with a strong moral compass and works to make difficult decisions while keeping the big picture in mind. John understands how the school district plays a central role in a community and the importance of keeping it strong.
As a member of the school board, John’s primary focus is to support the children of the Clarence community by advocating for programs, extracurricular sports/activities and creating/maintaining pathways for them to be successful. His goal is to continue to keep Clarence as a top school district and one of the most desirable places to live.
John and his wife, Ashley (Sigrist) a 1996 Clarence graduate, have made their home in Clarence Center. Together, they have 2 daughters, Brynna (7th grade) and Emery (6th grade) who attend Clarence Middle School.
James Boglioli relocated to Clarence in 2008 and chose this community primarily for its highly-ranked school district and low tax rate. James and his wife have two school age children with a son currently at the Middle School and a daughter at Clarence Center Elementary.
James holds a Bachelor of Science degree from Cornell University and a Juris Doctor degree from Hofstra University School of Law. He has worked as an attorney practicing land use and environmental law for over fifteen years and is currently employed at Benderson Development Company. As the Director of Development, James has both budgetary and supervisory responsibilities within the company.
Further, as an attorney practicing land use law, he regularly presents projects to municipal boards and state agencies; meets with the public to negotiate projects; and works with various consultants to prepare studies and present complicated information in easily understandable ways.
James understands the importance of maintaining high quality schools as a cornerstone of a strong, stable community. His goals as a Clarence School Board member would be to not only maintain the programs, courses and extra-curricular activities that make the Clarence schools great, but to work to regain what has been lost in recent years and to strive for the District to stay current with today’s technological and educational advances.
Turnout is Critical!
It will be very important that people come out to vote on May 17th for these two candidates, and also for the proposed school budget. You can find out about the budget process here.
We also urge you to attend the school board’s annual budget hearing at the High School lecture hall at 7pm on Monday May 9th.
The proposed 2016-2017 budget will include a levy increase of 2.76% – well under the 3.11% cap – and will add back 4 teacher’s aides, one elementary school teacher to accommodate an unanticipated growth in enrollment, one HS social studies teacher, and a maintenance person.
Please help with any contribution you might be able to afford in order to help fund our efforts to Keep Clarence Schools Great.
We hope we can count on your for your continued support!
