A group of dedicated Clarence music students marched in the 2013 Memorial Day Parade on Monday May 28th to honor those who have laid down their lives for our country.
However, some comments during and after the parade compel us to clear up some misconceptions.
Traditionally in years past, the marching band would have performed along the parade route. Last year was the last year they could do so – the marching bands were cut from the 2012-2013 school budget, and students were notified of that last September.
No marching band exists in the Clarence school district anymore – rumors that their absence had anything whatsoever to do with last Tuesday’s “no” vote are absolutely false. On the contrary, the students marched yesterday in honor of our fallen heroes, and not to make any sort of political point.
